Mary-Linda Adams

Ms. Adams has over 25 years of experience as a Geologist, which over 14 years has been in the environmental field.  She has an advanced geology degree from Temple University, and she possesses a diverse and impressive professional history in the environmental field with experience in both research and the applied earth sciences.   During her career Ms. Adams has served government agencies, the military, academic institutions, and private companies in many different capacities including as a Section Head, Project Manager, Senior Staff Geologist, Research Associate, and a Technical Writer.   Ms. Adams interpreted Apollo and Orbiter photography for the Woods Hole Oceanic Institution early in her career while studying tectonism and fracture mechanics.  She also examined the first mid-ocean ridge basalts while at the institute, and prepared the preliminary report on seafloor spreading.  It was this work at Woods Hole that influenced her to pursue the use of geophysical methods to examine environmental problems.

Ms. Adams has extensive experience in the design of remediation systems for contaminated waste sites, performing and supervising site assessments, and in the geophysical characterization of hazardous waste sites.  She has worked with the EPA on preliminary site inspections for the listing of sites on the National Priorities List, and has designed work plans for State Superfund sites.

Ms. Adams is professionally affiliated with the National Ground Water Association, American Geophysical Union, Society of Exploration Geophysicists, and the National DNAPL Task Force.  Prior to co-founding RRI her employment history included Jacobs Engineering Group, the Maryland Department of the Environment, U.S. Army Toxic & Hazardous Materials Agency, Lamount-Doherty Geological Observatory (Columbia University), and the Smithsonian Institution.  Ms. Adams has presented numerous research papers for scientific conferences and journals.
